Lowe Electronics
was started in 1964 by Bill Lowe in his garage, specialising
in the supply of equipment for the radio communications hobby
market. Bill had spent several years in Canada, and had seen
the beginnings of manufacture for this market by Japanese
companies. When he returned to the UK he obtained the exclusive
UK distribution rights for a number of Japanese manufacturers
who were to become major names in the market. This early
foresight stood him in good stead, and by the 1980s the company
was highly successful. Bill built the Company reputation
on second to none technical knowledge and helpful friendly
advice. Expansion led to the establishment in 1979 of a purpose
built headquarters and service facility in Matlock, Derbyshire,
UK where the Company had started, and the opening of a number
of wholly owned branch outlets in various parts of the country.
A major strategic reorganisation was carried out in 1997.
As a result of this, the company changed its' focus away from
specialist retail markets towards commercial and |
Public Safety areas.
Existing links with Asian manufacturers were strengthened,
and a close relationship was established with a Far Eastern
sourcing company. Lowe developed an own branded range of
audio accessories for
communication radios which have since obtained a major market
share in the UK. At the same time, we were appointed as sole
UK distributor for Otto Communications, the largest US based
World manufacturer of this type of product. This whole business
area has grown considerably over the last 10 years.
With the advent
of the Airwave network, Lowe concentrated on the design and
supply of audio accessories for police radios, and as a consequence
we have supplied every police force in the UK and a number
in Europe with this equipment. In addition, we have a network
of commercial radio dealers in the UK and Europe selling
our products to PMR end users. Our latest development is
a planned diversification into specialist audio accessories
for military markets world wide. |
